If you thought leather and mesh uppers made the best of running shoes, think again. nike went all out to negate this long held belief and returned to its roots to manufacture one of the most sought after running shoes series - the nike Air Max 2003 SS. With no leather or mesh upper, this range of shoes was manufactured using a high-tech carbon-based fibre that makes these shoes waterproof, yet breathable.

Imagine! Waterproof, yet breathable! That's the kind of breakthrough technology that Nike engineered to create its classic running shoe range of the Air Max 2003. Traditionally, runners needed to decided between ventilation for the feet and safety from wet conditions. At one point in time, runners had several shoes - each that suited a particular type of weather condition. But Nike decided to give them the best of all rolled into one pair of shoes called the Nike Air Max 2003, making running a pleasurable experience and enhancing performance.

Foamless for hard runners

Like all other Nike Air Max models, the Nike Air Max 2003 series also sport a full length air sole. However, what makes the sole in this range of shoes stand apart is that it has a TPU midsole unit to support pounding heels and allow the runner to focus on the trail rather than worry about his foot.

Another factor that makes the Nike Air Max 2003 stand apart from the rest of the shoes in this series is that it was the first Air Max shoe that did not have any foam in the midsole. This technology was employed to its fullest and marketed with vigour when Nike released its Air Max 360 model.

Get retro

Most importantly, the Nike Air Max 2003 model has a ventilated support strap on the inside of the shoe to create a snug Fit and feel, besides giving it a retro appearance with its moulded retro track spike. This clean look of the Nike Air Max 2003 makes it a great wear not just on the track, but also off-track around the town.
